Swiss Privacy Shield is finally here
The US Department of Commerce has announced that a Swiss version of privacy shield has been finalised with the cooperation of the Swiss Federal Data commissioner.
The new program is expected to become available on April 2 and will feature a number of changes from the existing EU Privacy Shield and the old Swiss Safe Harbor program which remains intact until later this year.
It is clear that data transfers between Switzerland and the United States of America are of pivotal importance to both countries.
There are questions regarding the export of data to the United Kingdom from the European Union post BREXIT and it remains to be seen whether a privacy shield version or a similar program will be developed by the United Kingdom government or if a treaty will ensure that United Kingdom remains within the European Union in terms of data transfer.
